RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID)

RFID is the use of a wireless non-contact system that uses radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking.

Some RFID tags require no battery (EAS) and are powered by the electromagnetic fields used to read them. Others use a local power source and emit radio waves (electromagnetic radiation at radio frequencies). The RFID tag contains electronically stored information which can be read several metres away. Unlike a bar code, the tag does not need to be within line of sight of the reader and may be embedded in the tracked object.

RFID tags are used in many industries and with little to no boundaries.

The key markets that have embraced RFID tags are:

  • Food & beverage (high value items eg. Spirits)
  • Textiles (leather clothing and shoes)
  • Media (CD, DVD, Games, Accessories)
  • Pharmaceuticals

All Logopak print & apply labelling equipment is RFID ready and can operate as a traditional labelling solution or in conjunction with RFID tag technology to print (if required), write and apply a tag on demand.

Logopak offer a complete RFID starter kit to provide the end user with a live experience of the technology.  This allows the user to evaluate the process and record the added value RFID technology can bring to any business.
