2D barcodes
A 2D (two-dimensional) barcode is a graphical image that stores information both horizontally, as standard barcodes do, as well as vertically.
As a result of the two-dimensional construction, 2D codes can store a much greater number of characters than a traditional barcode.
Traditional linear barcodes printed onto products or items hold information relating to serial number, production date, SKU, etc. However, a matrix or 2D barcode contain a huge amount of data such as an entire shipping document, and are particularly suited to track & trace.
2D barcodes further increase efficiency and accuracy in a wide range of applications, and with the ever-decreasing cost of reliable 2D imaging scanners, they are ideal for use in shipping and inventory management.
