Logopak automates despatch labelling at Box.co.uk

Founded in 1996, Box Limited is a large etailer based in the UK. They sell an extensive range of computer equipment through their retail shop, and a specialist website.

The popularity of online retail has led to rapid growth and over 600,000 customers. However, this success meant that their manual bagging and packing process became stretched at peak times.

Their search for an automated solution led to a trip to Internet Expo and a meeting with Logopak’s integration partners and bagging experts Adpak. Following a demonstration of Adpaks BVM bagging solution, Box approached Logopak to deliver the labelling element of the solution.

The solution

The 35,000 sq ft warehouse at Minworth, Sutton Coldfield operates 2 distribution lines – one for small items and another for larger orders with a Logopak 515T labeller on each line. Logopak provided a bespoke solution for the labelling of items on each despatch line.

Small items are placed onto the conveyor, ensuring the customer order is matched with the correct paperwork. They are then enclosed in a carton provided by Packrobat. A Logopak 515T print and apply labelling machine then prints a carrier shipping label which is applied to the exterior, ready for shipping. Larger items are bagged and then labelled.

The combined solution significantly increase the efficiency of the bagging, labelling and despatch process, with up to 15 orders a minute being automatically packaged and labelled.

Mark Jordan, MD at Box Ltd commented, “I have been impressed with the ease of integration and reliability of the Logopak machines. The system is already delivering the efficiencies we wanted and more.”
